DAY TWENTY-TWO - Healing in Astorga

Arrived here yesterday. It turns out they don't have the medical facilities here that I expected. Consulted with a practitioner and I was advised to not walk for two more days. So, here I'll be for the next two days.

This morning, while looking around town, I ran into Thelma and Gary, a couple form the States. I met them earlier in my Camino adventure and have connected with them at various times along the Camino. Later in the day we ate dinner together in the main town plaza, known as the Plaza Mayor (pronounced "may or "). In the plaza, there is a clock that has a mechanically operated set of bell ringers.  The video is below. The talking in the background is school kids who were giving oral presentations.

Later, we toured the Gaudi Palicio and Astorga's cathedral.  At the end of the evening, we said our goodbyes. Tomorrow, they will continue on and I will stay another day.

At the albergue, I met Cindy, from Ontario, Canada.  She walked the Camino last year, from Puy, France to Santiago, 1700 kilometers. She is back this year to walk a smaller section. She is also taking a couple of days off, to give her aching knees a break.
